UM - Unified Messaging
Many organizations have discovered the benefits of unified or integrated messaging. Combining different kinds of messaging so that users can, for example, retrieve email, voicemail and faxes from a PC, or retrieve email from a phone via text-to-speech. With unified messaging, users reduce the number of places they must check for new messages of different kinds.
Truly integrated messaging will allow users to combine different kinds of messaging – for instance, replying to email messages using a telephone and forwarding voice mail messages via email with additional comments in text.
